When Manuel Aumann heads into the mountains in the morning, it’s more than just leisure – it’s also inspiration. As Operations and R&D Director Bindings at Dynafit, he combines technical precision with a genuine passion for mountain sports. What others experience as a balancing act between work and hobby is, for him, a harmonious unity. “Mountains for life and mountains for work – that was a lucky break,” he says.
Before joining Oberalp, Manuel worked in the automotive industry. But his enthusiasm for the mountains led him to rethink his career. Today, together with his team, he develops binding systems that set new standards in innovation, safety, and simplicity. He wholeheartedly embraces Dynafit's low-tech philosophy: “Simplicity is the greatest form of art – even in creativity.”
In the development process, unexpected turns are not obstacles for him, but motivation. He doesn’t see the unforeseen as a disruption, but as an opportunity to learn. Mistakes? A necessary part of progress. That’s where his motivation lies: to make an impact, to shape and improve – both the product and the team.
What sets him apart is his calm, thoughtful manner. He doesn't seek the spotlight but supports his team from the background – as a steady presence, a source of inspiration, and a motivator. Under his leadership, the department has grown into a true team that collaborates across hierarchies and disciplines. A team that cooks together, builds workbenches, and spreads genuinely good vibes. They are united by their love for the mountains and for the Dynafit brand, which they are deeply passionate about.
Simplicity is the greatest form of art – even in creativity.
For Manuel, his work is more than just a job. He values the exchange with colleagues just as much as the sense of creating something that brings joy to others – visible in the mountains, when he sees people using Dynafit bindings. That kind of feedback motivates him just as much as input from retailers and the pride in what they’ve achieved together.
Variety is essential for him. Whether on ski tours, mountain runs, or in sports competitions, he loves to challenge himself physically and mentally. The early morning summit, often before heading to the office, is his ritual: a moment to pause, reflect, and gain new perspectives. Even in his personal life, he deliberately seeks out new viewpoints through travel, engaging with different cultures, and staying open to new ways of thinking.
Ambitious, humorous, and thoughtful – that’s how friends describe him. And in his professional life, he remains true to his principle: not to judge hastily, but to assess with distance and calm. Perhaps that is his greatest talent – maintaining clarity amid constant change and momentum.
