Manuel Schwitzer is known to everyone working at Oberalp in Bolzano. Not only because his office is right at the entrance to the warehouse, but more importantly because Manuel is the first point of contact for any questions or matters related to the Oberalp Group’s main warehouse in Bolzano. As Warehouse Manager, he oversees the entire multi-story warehouse. He coordinates orders, incoming and outgoing goods, and staff. In doing so, Manuel draws on the enormous experience he has built over almost 30 years at Oberalp. When he started working at Oberalp in 1998, much of the now-modern warehouse facilities had not yet been built. Even on his very first day, Manuel realized that joining this “great workplace with great products” was the right decision and knew he would stay with Oberalp for a long time.
Manuel has maintained his motivation over nearly 30 years thanks to several factors. He greatly values the work environment, both in the warehouse and across the company, where a positive attitude is passed from one employee to another. “The positive mindset of my colleagues is my personal driving force and allows me to enjoy my work in an environment I am proud to be part of,” says Manuel.
In addition, Manuel’s practical mindset and willingness to take on new challenges help him thrive. He is passionate about making a difference every day, which keeps his work exciting, interesting, and varied. When the results are visible at the end of the day – goods delivered to all customers on time and praise coming from other departments or countries – Manuel feels particularly proud of his team.
Success, for me, means experiencing satisfied people, and above all, contributing to their satisfaction.
Although Manuel places great importance on his work, life outside of it is equally important. “Both work and personal life need to be balanced; that’s the only way to be truly successful and happy,” says Manuel. At the same time, maintaining a humble attitude is essential to him: “I believe it’s important to be and stay humble.”
He enjoys spending his free time with his wife and two daughters. Whether on a leisurely hike in the Sarntal valley, his home region, or traveling in their camper, there is never a dull moment in Manuel’s family. A devoted FC Bayern Munich fan, Manuel enjoys traveling with his family, friends, or colleagues to Munich to watch matches at the Allianz Arena – and, of course, to cheer for a victory.
Manuel has a great passion: model flying. But this passion begins long before actually flying and controlling the model aircraft. Together with friends, Manuel spends days building various models to find the ideal design and perfect flight balance. Repeated attempts are often necessary, and mistakes are part of the process. Yet Manuel stays true to his motto: “get up and keep moving forward.” This approach usually leads to the right adjustments and brings him great joy when piloting the planes.
